Hello!

The other day, I went to the “Kaijin-sai” held in the Shirahama district of Iriomote Island.

The Seagod Festival (Kaijin-sai) is an ancient traditional event in Okinawa. Participants compete by rowing dragon boats (Haryu-sen or Harley boats) to pray for safe voyages and abundant fishing.

Everyone was in perfect sync…!

The sight of them rowing while creating splashes was incredibly powerful, even from the shore!

There were many dramatic moments, making it a delightful time♪

Through festivals like this, communities can come together and unite.
