Hello, everyone!

Today, I want to share with you a special place in Okinawa’s Yaeyama Islands Yubu Island🏝️.

Yubu Island is a small island just off the coast of Iriomote Island. What makes Yubu Island unique is that there’s no bridge connecting it to the main island, so you can’t simply walk there. Instead, you’ll need to take a water buffalo cart to cross the shallow waters🐃✨.

The slow, rhythmic pace of the buffalo as it wades through the water, accompanied by the sound of traditional Okinawan music played on a sanshin, creates a calming and timeless experience. It’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy the sea breeze.

Once you arrive, be sure to stop by “Yubu Island Chaya” , a charming tea house offering local specialties, including delicious gelato!

Two must-try flavors are “Awamori” and “Okinawan Blue” 🍨. The Awamori gelato is infused with the essence of Okinawa’s traditional liquor, giving it a unique and refined taste perfect for those looking for a local, adult treat🍶. The Okinawan Blue flavor captures the refreshing essence of the island’s clear blue seas, providing a cool, delightful experience, especially on a hot day🌊.

These flavors are unique to Yubu Island and offer a taste of the local culture!

Despite its small size, Yubu Island is filled with natural beauty and rich history. You can stroll through gardens filled with tropical plants in full bloom or relax on the beautiful beaches🌺.

There’s also a water buffalo museum where you can learn about the history and role of these gentle giants on the island. Watching the water buffalo grazing peacefully while enjoying the island’s serene atmosphere is incredibly calming😊.

Yubu Island is a place where you can forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply enjoy the slow passage of time. Take a water buffalo cart ride across the sea, savor the delicious local gelato, and relax in the island’s natural beauty🌿✨.

If you’re planning a trip to Okinawa, make sure to add Yubu Island to your itinerary!
