Hello everyone! 🌞

How is everyone doing? The summer sun is still shining brightly on Iriomote Island! 🌴

Today, I want to talk about the “mangroves” of Iriomote Island!

There are many types of mangroves that inhabit Iriomote Island, but the three most commonly seen are the Bruguiera gymnorhiza, the Rhizophora stylosa, and the Kandelia obovata. 🌱 These mangroves are salt-tolerant and play a role in protecting the land by firmly anchoring their roots in the soil.

Additionally, Iriomote Island boasts the largest mangrove forest in Japan, making it a place of rich biodiversity. 🌊 Here, various plants and animals coexist, and it serves as an important habitat, especially for fish and birds. 🐦🐟

As you navigate through the mangrove forest, the intricately intertwined roots catch your eye, and their quiet presence brings a sense of calm. Small crabs and fish are active among them, reminding us of the richness of nature. 🦀

If you visit Iriomote Island, be sure to join a SUP or kayak tour to fully enjoy the mangroves! Early mornings or evenings are also recommended. 🍃 You’re sure to refresh yourself while connecting with nature and forgetting the busy daily routine! ✨

Next time, I’ll bring you more of the charm of Iriomote Island, so stay tuned!
